Took a half-day tour from Hoi An to the UNESCO-listed My Son Sanctuary, and it was absolutely worth the early start!
📍 Located about 1.5 hours from Hoi An, this historic site is often called Vietnam’s Angkor Wat — home to the ancient Hindu temples of the Champa Kingdom, set against a lush valley surrounded by mountains. The temples, some over a thousand years old, are partly in ruins but still rich in atmosphere and history.
The tour guide gave great insights into the architecture and religious significance, and there was even a short cultural dance performance included.
☀️ Tip: It gets really hot by late morning, so book a morning tour (some include hotel pickup and water). Bring a hat, sunscreen, and good walking shoes — you’ll be trekking over uneven paths.
📸 Highlights:
• Moss-covered temples and crumbling towers
• Ancient carvings and lingas
• Mountain backdrop that adds to the mystique
