The Abbey in the Fog

A fog rolled in from Arthur’s Seat the night I visited, swallowing the Abbey ruins in silver mist. The arches rose out of it like ribs from an ancient beast. It was quiet, almost too quiet. My footsteps echoed against the stone, and somewhere above, a raven cried. For a moment, it felt like I’d stepped out of time — the modern world completely gone. It’s not a haunted house in the cinematic sense; it’s haunted by history, by beauty, by everything that refuses to die. #hellohalloween
