In addition to London, there are other British royal palaces scattered across the UK. Queen Elizabeth II once used this as a summer resort.
Note: The interior cannot be visited while the King or other members of the royal family are staying. It's not often you get the chance to see an active palace, so it's definitely worth a visit.
It's also a good idea to visit both castles and compare the masculine Edinburgh Castle and the feminine Palace of Holyroodhouse. The room where the tragic Queen Mary I lived still remains.
If you meet someone dressed in period costume, it'll feel like you've traveled back in time to the days of the British Empire.
