Furongzhen, Dehang Miao Village and Fenghuang County

Three incredibly beautiful old towns 🤩

1) #furongzhen ancient village - a really pretty village with an incredible double waterfall. It is small and cute and apparently became very popular after a famous movie was shot here. It used to be an important port town with more than 2,000 year of history. Tujia ethnic group is the original inhabitants and also the predominant population here with their typical residential houses.

2) #dehangmiaovillage - unique Miao ethnicity village nested between wonderful mountains and waterfall. In Dehang there are still 500 Miao people living and keeping their tradition alive.

3) #fenghuang County - the ancient Phoenix town. It was also my favourite among the three. Beautiful river, typical stilted buildings. The ethnic communities here are Tujia, Miao and 26 other minority groups. The town is surprisingly alive at night with traditional dance and music performances, bars, restaurants and tons of street food stalls. During the day you can go around and enjoy a few museums and old dynasty residences.

The three old towns are half hour away by train from each other and they are absolutely worth the visit and the stay. People are also nice. Typical food tasty but very greasy 🥘 🍲
