Transportation

• High-speed rail: Take the high-speed train to "Fenghuang Ancient Town Station." After exiting, you can take the Line 1 shuttle bus for 7 RMB per person, about 15 minutes to Qifeng Square. Alternatively, you can choose the maglev train, 19 RMB one way, with unlimited rides within 4 days.

• Airplane: After arriving at Tongren Fenghuang Airport, take the airport shuttle bus to Fenghuang North for 30 RMB per person, then transfer to a taxi to the ancient town, or take a direct taxi for about 100 RMB.

• Self-driving: Navigate directly to the parking lots outside the town, such as Hongqiao Underground Parking Lot, 40 RMB per day. Vehicles are prohibited inside the ancient town.

• Tuojiang River Boat Ride: Take a wooden boat through Hongqiao Bridge, enjoy the reflections of stilted buildings on both sides. The night tour is even more stunning. Ticket price: 85 RMB.

• Hongqiao Wind and Rain Tower: One of Fenghuang Ancient Town’s landmarks. The tea house on the second floor offers an excellent spot for panoramic photos of the Tuojiang River.

• Shen Congwen Former Residence: The birthplace of the novel "Border Town," where you can learn about the literary master's growth. Admission: 45 RMB.

• Yang Family Ancestral Hall: A fine example of Qing Dynasty architecture. Free Miao ethnic song and dance performances at 10:00 and 15:00 daily.

• Nanhua Mountain Shenfeng Cultural Area: Climb to the top for a panoramic view of the ancient town. Features a glass walkway. Admission: 88 RMB.

• Cuicui Miao Cake: Located on Hongqiao Middle Road, wild vegetable Miao cake served with secret sour long beans and Xiangxi cured pork, soft and glutinous texture.

• Manshi Shrimp Cake: Near Tiaoyan, freshly fried live shrimp, crispy outside and tender inside, best dipped in green chili sauce.

• Shawanli Sour Soup Cured Pig’s Trotters: The sour soup is naturally fermented from rice slurry and wild tomatoes; the cured pig’s trotters are stewed soft and glutinous, crispy outside and tender inside.

• Grandma’s Pickles: Next to Wenchang Pavilion Primary School, offering over 20 kinds of pickles to choose from. Blood rice duck-flavored pickled radish and sweet and sour papaya are worth trying.

• The ancient town does not charge an entrance fee, but some attractions require separate tickets. A nine-scenery combo ticket is 128 RMB; you can also buy tickets individually based on your interests.

• Confirm prices in advance for street photo-taking, colorful braid weaving, etc., to avoid being overcharged.

• Silver jewelry, Miao embroidery, and other goods can be bargained; genuine silver costs about 15 RMB per gram.

• The ancient town’s stone-paved roads are uneven; it is recommended to wear comfortable sports shoes.
