Turkey 🇹🇷 Fethiye, located 135 kilometers southeast of Marmaris, has an important pier at the end of the bay, with many small islands scattered within the bay. At the top of a small hill, there are remains of a fortress from the Crusades, offering a panoramic view of Fethiye.
Global tourists come here mainly for skydiving and swimming in the Dead Sea.
Speaking of the Dead Sea, everyone must think of the one near Israel, which has no life due to excessive sea salt and can make the human body float on the surface. Actually, Turkey also has a Dead Sea! The southern part of Turkey has a long and winding coastline. Near the ancient town of Fethiye, the coastline curves into a large bay. Here, the waters are calm, peaceful, and serene. This place is known as Turkey's Dead Sea, also called the 'Water Wealth'.
Legend has it that in ancient times, ships sailing on the high seas would pass by this place. The handsome son of an old captain took a small boat here to fetch water and met a beautiful girl named Besak, falling in love with her. One day, the ship encountered a storm. The young man told his father that there was a harbor to shelter from the wind, but the father thought he just wanted to see the girl and didn't really care if the ship would sink. They argued, and the father accidentally knocked his son into the sea. When the father regained his senses and calm, he found himself in a calm harbor. He realized his son was telling the truth, but it was too late. His handsome son had died, and the beautiful girl, upon learning this, was heartbroken and jumped off a cliff to her death. From that day on, this calm harbor began to change its water color constantly to commemorate the young couple. The Dead Sea got its name from this tragic love story.
Now, Turkey's Dead Sea has become the most famous natural seawater bathing place and seaside resort in southeastern Turkey. It is especially worth mentioning the paragliding here. From the high mountains of 1300 meters to 2000 meters, you can glide with the unique U-shaped parachute of the Dead Sea, accompanied by white clouds and seabirds, overlooking the entire Dead Sea. It's fresh and exciting!
