During the Battle of Fujikawa in 1180, Minamoto no Yoritomo ordered Yoshimori Wada to guard the area around present-day Imaizumi in Fuji City.
As a result, the surrounding area came to be named "Wada."
Furthermore, Wada Shrine was established to enshrine Yoshimori Wada as the guardian deity of the area. Also known as "Yoshimori-san," it is said that many people visited the shrine during the peak of 2022.
It is not a large shrine, and it is in a slightly difficult-to-find location, but there is a sign indicating the shrine.
