Compared to Ubuya, which is always fully booked, the yet-to-be-discovered Kukuna can really be called a hidden gem (make sure to book with dinner, it's really worth it!).
Its location is right in the center of Lake Kawaguchi, offering an unobstructed view of Mount Fuji.
You can enjoy the beautiful scenery of Lake Kawaguchi and Mount Fuji just by opening the curtains in the hotel room, and every room has a private balcony facing Mount Fuji (make sure to check the weather forecast before coming, or you will regret it).
Some room types in the hotel also come with a private hot spring bath, where you can soak while watching Mount Fuji, which is incredibly healing (even if you don't have a private hot spring bath, the rooftop open-air hot spring also offers a view of Mount Fuji, and you can take amazing photos when no one is around!).
Since the hotel is right by Lake Kawaguchi, you can get up early in the morning for a run or walk along the lake, and at night you can stargaze directly from the balcony. During the day, if you get tired from playing around the area, there is a bus stop along the lake where you can take a bus directly back to the hotel. It's really convenient.
If you are departing from Tokyo, you can take a bus from Tokyo Steel Tower Station to Lake Kawaguchi Station, then ask the staff at the visitor center to call the hotel for you, and the hotel's shuttle bus will arrive in about 10 minutes! The hotel offers a free shuttle bus to Lake Kawaguchi Station and Tenjosan Park Cable Car Station every morning, but you need to book in advance (the last shuttle is at 11 o'clock).
