Camping at the foot of Mt. Fuji: Tanukiko Campground & Kyuka Mura Fuji

#glamping #100waystotravel

As most people know, the Fuji Five Lakes are famous places to admire Mount Fuji, especially Lake Kawaguchi. Little do people know that there is a hidden secret place in Shizuoka Prefecture to enjoy the river view of Mount Fuji, which is #Tanukikoe located in Fujinomiya City, on the Asagiri Plateau at the western foot of Mount Fuji.

If you are lucky, you can not only see the Upside-down Fuji and the Red Fuji at Lake Tanuki, but also the Diamond Fuji for a week around April 20 and August 20 every year.

If you want to fully enjoy the beauty of Lake Tanuki, it is best to stay overnight. There are two best accommodation recommendations: one is to stay at the resort village Kyukamura Fuji, which claims to have a view of Mount Fuji from every room and has the Mount Fuji Grace Hot Spring; the other is to camp at the #Tanukiko Campground, which is as comfortable as a park, by the water at the foot of Mount Fuji.

As the campsite is right on the shore of Lake Tanuki, it is rich in natural ecology and the view is incredibly beautiful with green grass, undulating meadows on the high ground, and the majestic Mount Fuji as the backdrop.

However, Tanukiko Campground only accepts Nappu online reservations, and reservations for the next month are open at 10:00 on the 1st of each month. During peak seasons and holidays, an additional ¥1,000 per night is charged, and it is difficult to get a spot, so it is extremely popular.

In addition to camping, Lake Tanuki also offers many outdoor activities that allow people to get closer to the beautiful mountains and waters under Mount Fuji, such as boating, cycling, fishing, etc. It is really a good place to relax.
