Review of Lake Tanuki – Where the Reflection of Mount Fuji Clears Your Mind 🗻🌊🌅
If you’ve ever thought that Lake Kawaguchiko is the best place to view Mount Fuji, try visiting Lake Tanuki once, and you’ll realize that quieter spots can evoke deeper feelings.
Lake Tanuki is located in Fujinomiya City, Shizuoka Prefecture, not far from Fuji Safari Park. However, it offers a completely different vibe. Here, you’ll find "pure tranquility." There aren’t many cafes or paddle boats, just unspoiled nature and Mount Fuji standing majestically in front of you, perfectly centered in the frame.
💧 What makes this place stand out is the symmetrical reflection of Mount Fuji on the water, especially in the morning when the water is calm like a mirror and sunlight illuminates the mountain peak. This creates the "Diamond Fuji" phenomenon, where the peak glimmers like a diamond—a simple yet profoundly powerful image.
👣 Surrounding the lake is a small walking path stretching about 4 kilometers, ideal for leisurely strolls, light jogging, or cycling while enjoying the scenery. It’s a perfect place to spend quiet time with yourself and nature without rushing.
🏕️ For camping enthusiasts, there’s a lakeside camping area that’s popular among Japanese nature lovers, especially during spring and autumn when the weather is pleasantly cool. Imagine stargazing at night and waking up to a stunning view of Mount Fuji—it’s an experience money can’t buy.
✨ Tanuki isn’t a famous tourist spot, but it’s a place where you can immerse yourself in serene beauty without distractions—no engine noise, just cool breezes, birdsong, and the mountain’s reflection in the water.
P.S. Renting a car is recommended so you can take your time and wait for the sunset, which is truly worth it.
