Back in Fukuoka, and even with the start of the rainy season in Northern Kyushu, it's not dampening my spirits! My culinary adventure is in full swing, and I even managed to "unbox" a few free, unexpected attractions along the way.
These hidden gems were all conveniently located near Hakata Station, popping up as I was out and about on my food quest:
Tocho-ji Temple (東長寺) - Giant Wood Buddha: I stumbled upon this serene temple housing a massive wooden Buddha statue. It was a peaceful and awe-inspiring sight, a truly grand blind box reveal!
Kushida Shrine (櫛田神社): This vibrant shrine offered a wonderful glimpse into local culture and tradition. Its intricate details and lively atmosphere made for a delightful surprise.
Sumiyoshi Shrine (住吉神社): Another beautiful shrine I encountered. It exuded a tranquil aura, providing a perfect moment of calm amidst my bustling food exploration.
It's been a great trip so far, blending delicious eats with unexpected cultural discoveries!
