Strawberry Afternoon Tea at THE KITCHEN THE ROOF

Reserve an afternoon tea experience at the newly opened ONE Fukuoka Hotel, located within the ONE Fukuoka Building, which opened in late April this year. The 19th floor, the top floor, is divided into two sections: THE KITCHEN facing Hakata Port and THE ROOF facing the city, with the reception area at the center.

The afternoon tea is held on THE ROOF side, which also features outdoor terrace seating. The ONE Fukuoka Building is conveniently connected underground to Tenjin Subway Station and Nishitetsu Tenjin Station, making it easily accessible. Seating is arranged with an 8-person long sofa table. 🤣

Through the floor-to-ceiling windows, you can see landmarks like Fukuoka Tower and PayPay Dome, and directly in front are other new hotels such as THE GATE Hotel Fukuoka and Ritz-Carlton Fukuoka, which opened last year. Another building is also under construction right next to the ONE Fukuoka Building.

The city of Fukuoka is visibly developing further. Before heading to the hotel, I explored the ONE Building from the basement and made my way up to the 7th floor to find the elevator leading to the hotel. Upon the elevator doors opening, a signature fireplace-like structure caught my eye.

Afternoon tea guests can upgrade their welcome drink to champagne for an additional 1,500 yen, which I opted for. The afternoon tea set includes five savory items, five sweets, two scones, and a special strawberry crepe.

The welcome drink comes with unlimited refills for beverages. Tea is served in tea bags, and the latte art features a shy little heart. 💓☕️ The scones are delicious, and the savory items are quite good. As a strawberry lover, I particularly enjoyed the crepe with Yame green tea cream.

The sweets, however, were less distinctive compared to the savory items. Among the five types, only one or two stood out as tasty, but overall, they weren't in the best condition. The decor and flavors reminded me slightly of WITH THE STYLE Fukuoka, which is part of the same group.

The restaurant's layout is not entirely separated from the reception area, creating a somewhat open space. The busy check-in time at 3 PM overlaps with the afternoon tea service, leading to shared waiting areas and pathways. Additionally, automatic doors connecting to guest rooms on the same floor occasionally let in cold drafts.

Despite these minor inconveniences, the friendly and attentive staff provide excellent service. The high-floor views are enjoyable, and the location is very convenient, making it a comfortable spot to visit even on rainy days. Thank you.
