Kushida Shrine | Fukuoka

Kushida Shrine is an old Shinto shrine in the heart of Fukuoka that is the heart of the Hakata community. Founded in 757, it is notable for its tall torii gate and lush greenery, surrounded by thousand-year-old ginkgo trees and peaceful gardens. It is a great place to stop and pray for health and business, as well as try lifting the sacred stone “Chikara Ishi”, which is said to boost morale. The highlight is the Hakata Gion Yamakasa Festival every July, featuring a procession of giant wooden poles and deity boats. On weekdays, you can watch a replica parade, admire the intricately carved wooden architecture, and many deity statues. Kushida Shrine is easy to get to, close to the Hakata shopping district, and is a great place to experience culture and pray for a smooth life.
