Amazing Pagoda Forest in Shaolin Temple

Located in the famous Shaolin Temple under Mount Song, The Pagoda Forest is a cemetery collection of 250 tombs of monks. Not just any monk can be interred there, only highly respected monks can be.

One can tell the former status of the deceased by looking at how many piers are on the pagoda, with higher and larger pagodas indicating higher position and contribution of the monk.

Beneath each pagoda, the ashes of the Buddhist monks are placed.
