Gangneung Ojukheon is a historic house where Yulgok Yi I and Shinsaimdang were born, and it is a place where you can feel traditional Korean architecture and the spirit of Neo-Confucianism at the same time. The garden where black bamboo (Ojuk) grows and the buildings that preserve the residential style of the Joseon Dynasty are impressive. In particular, there is a memorial hall that exhibits Yulgok Yi I's childhood belongings and his writings, so it has high educational value. Thanks to the quiet and neat atmosphere, it is a good place for a walk or contemplation, and the admission fee is relatively low. In spring, the flowers that go well with Ojuk are beautiful and perfect for taking pictures, and on rainy days, the sound of rain falling through the Ojuk is very charming. There are many things to see and eat nearby, such as Seongyojang, Gyeongpoho, and Gangneung Central Market, so it is a great place to stop by when traveling to Gangneung.
