The Jubilee Clock Tower in George Town, also known as the Queen Victoria Memorial Clocktower, was built in 1897 by Cheah Chen Eok, a local Chinese tycoon in Penang, to commemorate the Queen's 60th anniversary of her reign. The tower is sixty feet high, with one foot representing each year of the Queen's reign. The bell tower is now slightly tilted because a bomb exploded next to it during World War II. This Moorish clock tower is located at the intersection of Lebuh Light and Lebuh Pantai. It is easy to find with the busy traffic around it. The Esplanade has many attractions and is also the filming location of Ang Lee's "Lust, Caution". It is close to the seaside and is very suitable for a stroll nearby.
