Weekend Market in Penang

Located south of the UNESCO heritage site in Georgetown, the old Hin Bus Depot has been converted into an art and event space. Entry is free and it houses an exhibition gallery (on rotation), cafes, bookshops and studios.

While the space is open all week long, the space really only comes alive over the weekends, where the Hin Market is held from 11am to 5pm. Local craft and popup stalls take residence under the pavilion, while food and drink booths occupy the area further down, where tables and chairs are set up for diners. There’s also a dedicated clothing section for thrift shoppers. When you’re tired, grab a seat and enjoy the live music performances.

If you’re in the area, I also recommend the sandwiches at Le Cafe and the speakeasy Backdoor Bodega, both of which are located right beside Hin Bus Depot. Citadines Connect Georgetown Penang around the corner is a good option if you wish to stay nearby!
