Street art in Penang is one of the cultural attractions that symbolizes George Town, Penang, Malaysia. 🙆♀️
The city's murals and art installations reflect the local history, culture, and life, and are loved by tourists and locals alike.
Penang's street art has been attracting attention since 2012, when Lithuanian artist Ernest Zacharevic created a series of works in George Town. These art works began as part of a project to further revitalize the city after George Town was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
His works are painted on the walls of old buildings and blend beautifully with the cityscape and daily life. His works, such as "a painting of a child riding a bicycle," are very popular with tourists!
Some street art incorporates real objects (such as bicycles, chairs, and motorbikes) and allows visitors to "interact" with the works while taking photos.
Many of them are themed around local culture, history, traditions, and daily life. For example, it depicts the lives of local people and the multi-ethnic society of Penang 🥺
Just by walking around, you can discover the many charms of Penang Island, so please visit this wonderful street!
It's recommended to go in the morning, as it's cooler and there are fewer people!
