George Town was named after King George III of Great Britain and Ireland during the British occupation.
Before the British arrived, the area was known as Tanjung Penaga.
Now known as Penang or Pulau Pinang, it's a charming city, especially the old town.
George Town, a World Heritage Site, is overflowing with charm, combining the old and new. It stands out for its culture and beautiful architecture, with its preserved historic buildings, including traditional Chinese, Sino-Portuguese, and classical European styles, neatly lined along the promenade. It's also lined with shops, restaurants, boutiques, and activities.
