Leong San Tong Khoo Kongsi - Penang, Malaysia

Leong San Tong Khoo Kongsi is the biggest Chinese clan house in Malaysia and is one of Penang’s most important sights. It is a part of the “five big clans”, the Khoos from Xiamen in the Fujian province of China, that formed the backbone of the Chinese immigrant community in Peninsular Malaysia.

These days, Khoo Kongsi is open for visitors for a small entry fee, and it is also often used as the backdrop for events such as lion dance on stilts or Chinese opera.

There is also a small museum where visitors can learn about the history of the Khoo clan.
