Kapitan Keling Mosque was built in 1801 by Indian soldiers from the East India Company, who became the first Muslim settlers in Penang. Now it is an architectural monument and a functioning central mosque. This is one of the most beautiful mosques in the city.
The mosque is available for tourists to visit at any time when prayers are not taking place there. Visitors can explore it from the outside at any time, in the evening it is very beautifully illuminated. At the entrance to the mosque, tourists must wear capes (free of charge).
