The Seven Restaurant & Bar (七号笼门) at E-Gate in Gelugor serves up a modern take on Hunan and Cantonese food, tweaked for local tastes.  Walking in, you’ll notice bold Chinese décor with touches that mix tradition and contemporary style—soft lighting, comfortable seating, and some dramatic elements like wood accents and decorative lanterns. 

The menu is large and varied: crowd favorites include their Ramen with Seafood & Spicy Milky Soup, Stir-Fried Seafood Hor Fun, Claypot Pork Belly with Salted Fish, Sweet & Sour Pork, and Szechuan-style dishes.  Portions are generous, making it good for family dinners or catching up with friends.  While some dishes hit high marks in flavor, others are more hit-and-miss; service is friendly though the kitchen can slow during busy hours. 

Overall, The Seven strikes a balance—dishes bold in flavor, décor stylish but not pretentious, and a warm, approachable vibe that makes it inviting beyond fancy Chinese food fans.
