The Gongyi Grottoes in Zhengzhou were built during the reign of Emperor Xiaowen of the Northern Wei Dynasty. They were used by the Northern Wei emperor and empress to hold Buddhist ceremonies and are considered royal grottoes. After more than 1,500 years, only five caves, one Thousand Buddha Niche, and three cliffside Buddha statues remain.

When you visit, you can't help but lament the serious damage that has occurred over the years, but when you look closely at the photos, the exquisite craftsmanship is still breathtaking.
The statues in the grottoes are not known for their complexity or splendor, but for their overall elegance and beauty. When you look closely, you can feel a sense of life in them.
