The Alum Cave Trail in Great Smoky Mountains National Park is a perfect blend of natural beauty, history, and challenge. This 4.6-mile round-trip hike takes you through lush forests, across log bridges, and up to the dramatic Alum Cave Bluffs—an overhanging cliff with panoramic mountain views. Along the way, you’ll pass Arch Rock, a unique geological formation carved by erosion. The trail is moderately strenuous but incredibly rewarding, especially in the early morning mist.
