Rosewood Guangzhou- Guang Yu Xuan

……Guang Yu Xuan, one of the best restaurants in Guangzhou! I finally got to try the famous Cantonese restaurant Guang Yu Xuan, located inside the Rosewood Hotel. Reservations are recommended, as walk-ins usually only get bar seating.
……Clay pot pigeon must be ordered 20 hours in advance. I didn't get to try it, which was a shame. I ordered the braised pigeon instead, which was just okay.
……But everything else was delicious! My top recommendation is still their signature Sichuan peppercorn angel hair pasta. The noodles have a wonderful texture, very smooth and al dente, and the Sichuan peppercorn flavor is rich but not overpowering.
……The pickled cucumber is very refreshing and cuts through the richness of the other dishes. I haven't seen many people recommend it online, but you should definitely give it a try. The cucumbers are pickled perfectly.
……The abalone puff pastry is fragrant but a bit rich, which is where the pickled cucumber comes in handy.
……From the roasted meat platter, I liked the roasted pork belly the most. It practically melts in your mouth. The roasted goose and char siu were good, but not particularly amazing. The accompanying plum sauce was excellent, though!
……The conch with truffle was also delicious. The truffle's milky aroma combined with a fresh, fragrant flavor creates a surprisingly harmonious blend.
……For dessert, I ordered ginger milk curd and almond tea. The ginger milk curd uses old ginger, which is extremely spicy. If you don't like ginger, be warned🥵. The almond tea had chewy boba in it, which I've never seen before, but I thought it was delicious!
……The restaurant's ambiance is perfect for a date. The lighting is subtle and creates a romantic atmosphere. After dinner, you can take photos on the outdoor terrace. Overall, if you stick to the recommended dishes online, you can't go wrong. It's definitely a must-try in Guangzhou!
