A Must-Have Guide for Lazy Travelers to Longhu Mountain: Transportation, Routes, and Food All in One

I recently took a trip to Longhu Mountain in Jiangxi and just got back. I can’t wait to share this super practical travel guide with everyone. As the birthplace of Taoism, Longhu Mountain not only has profound cultural heritage but also stunning Danxia landforms. The whole trip felt incredibly fulfilling!

Transportation Guide
Longhu Mountain is located in Yingtan, Jiangxi, and is very accessible. If you take the high-speed train, get off at "Yingtan North Station" and then take a taxi for about 30 minutes to reach the scenic area; regular trains arrive at "Yingtan Station," which also has direct buses. If you drive, just navigate to "Longhu Mountain Scenic Area." The parking lot is large, and the parking fee is very reasonable at 10-15 yuan per day.

Recommended Itinerary (2 days 1 night)
Day 1: Arrive in the morning and drop off luggage → Afternoon bamboo rafting on Luxi River → Watch the Hanging Coffin performance → Evening stroll along Guyue Water Street
Day 2: Visit the Celestial Master’s Mansion in the morning → Climb Elephant Trunk Hill in the afternoon → Return in the evening

Must-Visit Attractions

1. Luxi River Bamboo Rafting: A must-try! The river water is emerald clear, and the Danxia mountain shapes on both sides are uniquely bizarre. The boatman will also share interesting legends about the rocks like “Don’t eat the immortal peach” and “Don’t comb with the jade comb.” The whole trip takes about 40 minutes, and the gentle breeze is especially pleasant.
2. Hanging Coffin Performance: Starts every day at 2 PM (extra shows during peak season), best viewed from the opposite side of Taohuazhou. Watching performers climb a hundred-meter cliff with bare hands and place coffins into caves is truly breathtaking and gives you goosebumps! This is a millennium-old unsolved mystery, so be sure to secure your spot early.
3. Shangqing Ancient Town + Celestial Master’s Mansion: The ancient town’s bluestone paths are full of charm. The Celestial Master’s Mansion was the residence of successive Zhang Celestial Masters and is known as the “Ancestral Court of Taoism.” The red walls and black tiles of the ancient buildings make for great photos. Even if you’re not religious, you can feel the solemn and majestic atmosphere.
4. Elephant Trunk Hill: The scenic shuttle bus stops here. This is a typical Danxia landform erosion feature, and the mountain really looks like an elephant’s trunk! It takes about 20 minutes to climb up, and the view is very expansive, offering a panoramic view of the entire Longhu Mountain.

Accommodation Suggestions
For convenience, stay in a homestay inside the scenic area; you can find very clean ones for around 200 yuan. For higher quality, choose hotels near the scenic area entrance, such as Daoyuan Mountain Villa. There are more options in Yingtan city, but you’ll need to spend an extra half hour commuting each day.

Food Recommendations
Jiangxi cuisine is spicy but very appetizing! Must-try dishes include Shangqing tofu, which is tender and flavorful; chestnut braised chicken, with sweet chestnuts and tender chicken; as well as Luxi live fish and bracken fern stir-fried with cured meat. I also tried the local specialty Celestial Master chestnut wine, which is low in alcohol and easy for women to drink~

Practical Tips

· The combined ticket for admission and shuttle bus is 230 yuan; booking online one day in advance usually saves 10-20 yuan
· The scenic area is large, so wear comfortable shoes! Don’t forget sunscreen, hats, and mosquito repellent
· The shuttle bus runs in a loop, and you can get on and off at any stop, just plan your time wisely
· Photography enthusiasts are advised to bring a wide-angle lens to capture the grandeur of the Danxia landforms

This trip truly helped me understand the meaning of “Clear waters and beautiful Danxia, a wondrous Taoist cave paradise.” Longhu Mountain is not only beautiful but the fusion of nature and culture is unforgettable. If you have travel plans soon, this place is definitely worth adding to your list!
