Taiping Road is located in the core area of Yunyan District, Guiyang. Formerly known as Longjing Alley, it was once the site of "Longjing Autumn Shade," one of the Eight Views of Guiyang during the Ming Dynasty. Today, it is a trendy landmark of the old alley's revival, combining historical heritage with youthful energy, earning the nickname "Guiyang's Itaewon."
Daytime Stroll: Coffee and Art
This area is known as a "coffee concentration hotspot," with a unique coffee shop every few steps. Recommended is Captain George at No. 40 Taiping Road, where single-origin pour-over and butter dirty coffee are must-tries. Outside the shop, you can take photos with the iconic Linghou IP "Bu Er" installation; No. 8 Taiping Road’s Kongji Coffee is famous for its minimalist vintage style, with black coffee and oat lattes highly praised. Follow the coffee bean stickers on the ground to connect the entire coffee corridor, where you can also encounter vintage shops, film houses, and other artistic boutiques, enjoying a slow-paced atmosphere.
Nighttime Flavor Hunt: Street Food and Trendy Fun
As night falls, the street transforms into a sleepless night paradise. Food trucks and trunk markets light up, filling the air with the aroma of local snacks like Long Huzi marinated soup hot pot and Qian Yuweng tofu fish. Pair these with specialty drinks from small coffee carts to unlock authentic flavors. Along the street, vintage bars and punk-style pubs offer places to relax with a drink, providing an immersive experience of southern nightlife.
Nearby Connections: Efficient Exploration
Taiping Road is compact and vibrant, best explored in combination with nearby attractions. A 12-minute walk leads to Radio Street, perfect for hunting vintage trinkets; just 2 minutes further is Wenchang Pavilion, where you can climb the Wushengmen City Wall for excellent photo opportunities—all free of charge. When tired, walk to Minsheng Road to try intangible cultural heritage foods like Danjia Crispy Duck and Dingjia Crispy Shao, satisfying your taste buds in one stop.
The district operates until 5 a.m., ideal for city walks during the day and lively street food and trendy fun at night, making it a perfect witness to the collision of old and new cultures in Guiyang.
