Gazing at the Splendid Night View of Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond in Gyeongju

Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond, one of Gyeongju's most iconic night view attractions, is a historic site that combines a royal villa and an artificial pond from the Silla Dynasty. Especially at night, when the lights illuminate the area, the reflection of the pavilion on the pond creates a magical scenery that captivates many visitors.

Pond Structure: Wolji Pond spans approximately 200 meters from east to west and 180 meters from north to south. The southwest side is designed with straight lines, while the northeast side features curves. This intentional design prevents the entire pond from being seen at once, evoking the feeling of an endless sea.
• Artificial Islands and Mountains: The pond features three artificial islands in the center and twelve artificial mountain peaks in the northeast. These were modeled after the Taoist utopia of the Three Divine Mountains and the Twelve Peaks of Mount Wu in China, symbolizing Silla's ideal world.
• Imhaejeon Hall: On the west side of the pond stood Imhaejeon Hall, a pavilion used for banquets. Today, parts of the building have been restored.
