Seochulji Pond

Seochulji Pond was one of my favorite travel destinations in Gyeongju. Unlike the commonly well-known attractions, this place seemed to be more cherished by the locals. The pond is not very large, but it exudes a serene atmosphere and showcases different charms with each season. In summer, the pond is filled with lotus flowers, creating a spectacular view, while in autumn, the foliage turns vibrant, making it a perfect spot for photography. A photo I took with the autumn leaves reflected in the pond looked like a painting in a frame. Historically, the pond holds significance beyond its beauty, as it is tied to legends from the Silla era. With benches and walking paths around, it’s a great place to spend a leisurely time, and the lack of crowds makes it ideal for quiet contemplation. If you’ve already explored Gyeongju’s famous tourist spots and are looking for a place with a different vibe, this is definitely worth a visit.
