Do Son

Do Son is an inner-city district of Hai Phong city, Vietnam.
Do Son is a famous beach since the Nguyen Dynasty and the French colonial period. It is also mentioned in the story Trong Mai (1936) by writer Khai Hung.
During Tet, people from everywhere flock to Do Son to visit Ba De temple, praying for favorable weather. In addition, every year in Do Son, there is a festival on Dau island. On this day, Do Son people in particular and traders from everywhere take boats to the island to worship and burn incense to pray for good luck for a year of favorable business and good health.

One of the outstanding cultural activities is the Do Son Buffalo Fighting Festival. The festival is held in 2 rounds: the preliminary round on the 8th day of the 6th lunar month and the final round on the 9th day of the 8th lunar month, attracting a large number of domestic and foreign tourists. The final matches are broadcast live on Hai Phong television.
