Hakodate might just be the perfect city for a one-day adventure. From sunrise seafood to star-shaped forts and unforgettable night views, there’s a lot you can pack into 24 hours—and somehow still feel relaxed while doing it.
I kicked off the day with breakfast at Hakodate Morning Market, where super-fresh seafood bowls and grilled goodies line the stalls. Eating scallops before 9am? Highly recommend.
Next up, a peaceful stroll around Goryokaku, a star-shaped fortress surrounded by a moat and cherry trees. It’s especially stunning in spring, but the calm vibes are year-round.
For lunch, I couldn’t skip Lucky Pierrot—Hakodate’s beloved burger joint. It’s quirky, it’s local, and it’s totally delicious (get the Chinese chicken burger!).
In the afternoon, I made my way to Cape Tachimachi, a quiet cliffside spot with epic ocean views. Fewer crowds, more fresh air.
And to wrap things up? The legendary Hakodate night view from Mt. Hakodate. Sparkling city lights + ocean backdrop = the perfect ending to a packed (but perfect) day.
Why I recommend Hakodate:
・You can experience nature, culture, and crazy-good food—all in one easy-to-navigate city
・It’s perfect for short trips with big rewards
