Tokyo suburbs Hakone Owakudani cable car 🚡

The famous Hakone Onsen ♨️ springs are located in the Ōwakudani volcano 🌋

It takes just over an hour by JR train from Tokyo Shinjuku Station to Hakone-Yumoto Station. From Hakone-Yumoto JR Station, we recommend taking the Togendai Owakudani cable car 🚡.

Because the cable car passes over the Ōwakudani crater 🌋, you can clearly see the crater's sulfurous landscape.

Up in the Ōwakudani, we recommend sampling the local specialty, black eggs 🥚, which are the result of a chemical reaction between eggshells and volcanic minerals.

Walk around the crater. Then, take the cable car 🚡 down the other side of the mountain to the famous Lake Ashi. Enjoy the stunning views of the floating torii gate and Mount Fuji ✨
