Hakone: Narukawa Art Museum Guide — Art, Views, and My Time-Traveling Entrance! 🎨🌳

#summervacay
I've perfectly highlighted that Hakone offers so much more than just hot springs and Mount Fuji – it's also a treasure trove of unique art museums! Whether the weather's clear for Fuji views and hot springs, or rainy for museums and hot springs, there's always a perfect way to enjoy Hakone.

Here's my guide to the Narukawa Art Museum (成川美術館):

Location & Accessibility

While I know many of Hakone's museums are clustered along the route from Gora towards Gotemba, the Narukawa Art Museum stands apart. It's uniquely situated right on the shores of Lake Ashi (芦之湖), making it incredibly convenient if I'm visiting the Hakone Shrine's "floating" torii gate or catching a pirate ship from the Motohakone Port. Its lakeside location offers a different kind of charm and accessibility.

Tickets & Savings

Because of its prime location near a pirate ship port, I found that the museum is especially friendly to Hakone Free Pass holders! While the standard admission is 1,500 JPY, I could get a significant 200 JPY discount with the Free Pass. This is a much larger discount compared to what other museums typically offer, making my pass even more valuable here.

Opening Hours

The museum is open daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, giving me ample time to explore its collections and enjoy the surrounding views.

A Unique Entrance

As I approached the entrance of the Narukawa Art Museum, I immediately noticed a majestic Giant Cedar tree that truly required several people to encircle it, standing proudly by the entrance. Right beside it was the elevator entrance. To reach the museum proper, I embarked on a journey through a series of ascending escalators. This ascent truly felt like stepping into a "time tunnel," building anticipation as I was transported upwards to the art within.

I was so ready for an artistic journey with fantastic views at Narukawa Art Museum!
