[Nagano Prefecture] Ski resort in winter and hike through the autumn leaves! "Hakuba Ridge"

#AutumnFoliageSeason

Hakuba is a popular destination for hiking along the Hakuba Ridge, which overlooks the Northern Alps in summer and is one of Nagano's top ski resorts.

The Hakuba Ridge is also known as the Hakuba Happo Ridge, so named because the ridge extends in all directions from Mt. Karamatsu.

Trekking to Happoike Pond, located midway along the Hakuba Ridge, is accessible by taking a series of lifts to the base, Happoike Sanso, at an elevation of approximately 1,830m. A boardwalk leads to the pond, offering a one-way hike of approximately 1 hour to 90 minutes, making it a popular spot.

(Note: The boardwalk is a detour, so if you want a shortcut, be aware that you'll be on a scree-covered route.)

If you're lucky, walking along the ridge early in the morning, you can gaze down upon a vast sea of clouds and witness the magnificent sunrise!

The autumn foliage season can be very busy, so we recommend visiting on weekdays when it's less crowded.

🚗The Happo Alpine Line Lift Station is approximately an hour's drive from the Nagano Interchange on the Nagano Expressway.
🚗The Kurobishi Line Lift Station is approximately an hour and a half's drive from the Kosoku Interchange on the Nagano Expressway.
