Hangzhou Xi Shang Hupao 1934 Hotel!
Location: No. 6-1 Huyu Road, Xihu District!
Recently, this hotel transformed from a Republic of China villa in Hangzhou has gone viral! Hidden in the dense forest of Hupao in West Lake, Xi Shang · Hupao 1934 blends blue bricks and black tiles with lush mountain scenery. Opening the window lets you embrace the entire forest. The 23 rooms are named after flowers and plants, with trumpet vines hanging by the windows and the subtle fragrance of bauhinia floating in the air, making every breath feel tender with the warmth of nature.
Located in the heart of the main West Lake scenic area, it is within walking distance to the Hupao Spring. Three buildings are surrounded by bamboo paths, with courtyards featuring wedding lawns and scenic ponds. Amidst the swaying tree shadows, it feels like traveling back to a 1934 summer villa. The architect uses glass curtain walls to bring the mountain light indoors, where old fireplaces and contemporary artworks converse warmly, and even the air conditioning vents are hidden behind carved wooden grilles.
The fusion cuisine at Moonbud Restaurant is a hidden gem, with a wonderful combination of osmanthus sugar lotus root paired with Spanish ham, served on Republic of China style celadon plates. In the morning, be sure to visit the "Fengyuexian" tea room, where Longjing tea brewed with Hupao spring water is served alongside a seasonal tea snack menu handwritten by the butler, with even the tea spoon being a unique silver piece.
For a morning run, it’s recommended to climb up Hupu Road step by step, where you might encounter squirrels jumping on ancient trees. Families with children can reach the zoo within a 10-minute walk. In the evening, when flying kites on the "Green Wild Plain" lawn, you can often hear the clear calls of peacocks from the other side of the mountain. Upon checkout, guests receive a linen gift bag embroidered with trumpet vines, containing the hotel’s homemade osmanthus honey—this is probably the embodiment of Jiangnan’s romance.
