A hidden retreat in Hangzhou! A Zen ancient temple privately cherished by locals, few people and great for photos

Don’t want to be crowded at West Lake? Then you must visit Lingyin Temple + Faxisi Temple! These two ancient temples are tucked away in the mountains, full of Zen vibes, and perfect for unique photos～

Start with Lingyin Temple, buy a 30 yuan incense voucher at the entrance, take free incense to pray, and your mind will calm down. The thousand-year-old pine tree in the temple is very atmospheric, with sunlight filtering through the leaves, making side-profile photos look incredibly gentle!

After leaving Lingyin Temple, take the sightseeing bus to Faxisi Temple (10 yuan/person). The bamboo forest along the way is stunning, remember to open the window and shoot a video! Faxisi Temple’s red walls and yellow tiles are very photogenic. Wear plain-colored clothes and stand in front of the “Fu” (fortune) character wall—every casual shot looks like a classic ancient-style photo～

Important! You must try the plain noodles in the temple! The Guanyin noodles cost 25 yuan a bowl, with plenty of toppings and a broth so fresh you’ll want to lick the bowl～

Tips: Go at 8 AM for the fewest people, bring your ID, wear comfortable shoes (there’s mountain walking), and remember to buy a protective charm at Faxisi Temple’s entrance for blessings and a nice souvenir!
