Hangzhou / Xiaohezhi Street Historical and Cultural District

The Xiaohezhi Street Historical and Cultural District is located near Beidaqiao Metro Station.

This area is divided into two zones by the river, with high-priced cafes lining both sides. There are shops selling Hanfu and makeup, and the sidewalks beside the river offer a chance to capture Jiangnan-style photos.

Xiaohezhi Street, located at the confluence of the Grand Canal, Xiaohe River, and Yuhangtang River, is a key representative of Hangzhou's historical and cultural districts, with its history dating back to the Southern Song Dynasty.

During the Southern Song Dynasty, the Xiaohe area served as a distribution center for supplies, a hub for river-land transfers, and a storage area.

In the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, riverside docks flourished.

In the mid-to-late Qing Dynasty, the catering, snack, and department store industries gradually flourished, and various businesses, including wine workshops, blacksmith shops, salt shops, rice mills, and candle shops, took root in the Xiaohe area.

Architectural Style: Small buildings lining the street, with whitewashed walls and black tiles, embody the characteristics of a modern Jiangnan water town.
