Hidden Tranquil Spot Near Wugong Mountain/Yaowang Temple

201025 (5) I never expected there would be so much to see here. The Chenghuang Temple required an entrance fee, so I didn't go in, as I had already donated money 💴 at the Yaowang Temple. Besides, Chenghuang Temples are quite similar everywhere.

The Yaowang Temple is located halfway up Wushan Mountain. Initially, it was dedicated to Zhang Sen, a Han Dynasty leather goods market guard, but later it was changed to honor Shennong, along with Bian Que and Sun Simiao. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the temple served as a gathering place for the traditional Chinese medicine industry in Hangzhou. Its unique feature is the two cryptic "heavenly script" couplets on the walls, which read: "The jade furnace refines the elixir of longevity; the righteous path cultivates the pill of life extension."

Due to a tight schedule, I turned back halfway through the hike. The small shops in the alley and their service attitudes are much better than they were years ago!
