📍Cafe Giang, Vietnam
☕️ Cafe Giang (officially known as Cafe Giang, established in 1946) is a timeless gem tucked away in a narrow alley off Nguyen Duy Huong Street in Hanoi's Old Quarter. This historic cafe is internationally acclaimed as the birthplace of Vietnamese egg coffee, a novelty born during a time of milk scarcity and creativity. Stepping inside Cafe Giang, you'll feel transported back to post-war Hanoi. Inside, pale yellow walls are adorned with vintage photographs and mementos, while rows of low wooden chairs and small tables sit close to the floor, creating a truly authentic Vietnamese atmosphere. A creaking fan creaks, perfectly placed chairs, and the rich aroma of coffee blends with the din of lively conversation. While it's not particularly luxurious, it's the cafe's charm. 🥰👍🏻 Their signature dish is the hot egg coffee, served in small cups in a bowl of hot water. Their careful attention to temperature reflects decades of tradition. Fluffy egg yolks beaten with condensed milk, sugar (and often butter/cheese) sit atop a rich Vietnamese coffee base. The result is a sweet and smooth custard that blends perfectly with the rich coffee. 👍🏻👍🏻 In short, Cafe Giang isn't fancy, but it delivers authentic, authentic flavors.
