Salmonoid - a hidden gem in Hanoi

Nestled in a small alley on Cao Ba Quat street, Salmonoid feels like a secret waiting to be discovered by those who take the time to explore. The space is modest in size but exudes a charm that makes you pause before stepping inside. Surrounded by trees, bathed in soft light, and offering a rare tranquility in Hanoi, it’s a delightful retreat.

I visited for brunch, and it was truly delightful. The menu was a pleasant surprise, offering a variety of beautifully presented dishes. Salmon takes center stage, but in creative and refreshing ways. From light salads to grilled fillets, salmon paired with avocado, and even a kumquat dressing that adds a bright, fresh touch, the dishes are balanced, delicate, and never heavy.

The interior is cozy and charming, featuring wooden accents and large windows that let in the morning light. Upstairs, there’s a terrace where you can quietly enjoy a view of the city, away from the hustle and bustle. Soft music plays in the background, dishes are served warm, and it’s evident that everything is prepared with care.

The staff are genuinely kind, offering warmth and attentiveness that make you feel truly cared for.

While the prices are slightly higher than a casual eatery, they are justified by the quality of ingredients, the serene ambiance, and the thoughtful service. It’s a place meant for leisurely mornings or intimate conversations, not for rushing.

If you’re a salmon lover, this is your spot. Even if you simply appreciate good food and peaceful corners, you’ll find joy here.

Hanoi has many excellent restaurants, but few offer the gentle charm of Salmonoid.
