You walk into St.Sophia’s and are rejuvenated with a cool quietness. Once a holy place that didn’t survive Communism is still treated with respect. Locals use the altar as a musical stage. A classical singer sang arias and a saxophone player played Silent Night, a nod to the traditional religious purpose of the place. The walls, once boasting beautiful artistic motifs have fallen into a disrepair that does not detract from the beauty, but rather adds to the mystique of history and time.
