[Misen Shrine/Hiroshima Prefecture] The Okumiya Shrine of Itsukushima Shrine with a spectacular view of the Seto Inland Sea

Misen Shrine in Hatsukaichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture

When Taira no Kiyomori constructed the main Itsukushima Shrine, Misen Shrine was built as the inner shrine.

The three main buildings are arranged in the shape of the character "品" (hin). Like Itsukushima Shrine, the vermilion-lacquered main buildings enshrine the three goddesses Ichikishimahime, Tagorihime, and Tatsutsuhime.

The current shrine building was rebuilt after being destroyed by a typhoon during the Heisei era.

After disembarking from the ropeway, walk through the Misen Main Hall and follow the signs 🪧 to reach the shrine.
You'll walk through the mountains, but the footing isn't as rough as you might think.
As you walk from Mt. Misen, looking at the hiking trail and forest, the sudden appearance of the vermilion-lacquered shrine building is a stark contrast.
But it's a place where you can feel sacred. Above all, when you look down, the Seto Inland Sea spreads out before you, and you're simply moved by the beautiful blue of the water.
It's a place that makes you feel glad that you climbed all the way up here!
