Daishoin Temple, the head temple of the temple, located on Mount Misen in Miyajima, is the island's oldest temple.
Founded in 806 by Kukai, who traveled to Miyajima to train at Mount Misen, it is home to the Misen Main Hall, Sanki Hall, and Fusetsu Reika Hall.
The Fusetsu Reika Hall is a must-see!
The fire left over from Kobo Daishi's goma ritual on Mount Misen in 806 still burns today, and is known as the "Eternal Fire." Drinking the sacred water from the large tea kettle, which is heated by this fire, is said to cure all ailments.
The kettle is quite heavy, and the fire is hot, so it was difficult to walk without two people.
It's also said to be the source of the "flame of light" at Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park!

There are benches within the grounds where you can relax. You can also see deer and enjoy Mount Misen at your own pace.
