Hefei City God Temple 🏯 is a peaceful pocket of tradition in the middle of busy Hefei. Once the spiritual heart of the city, this temple was dedicated to the City God — a guardian spirit believed to protect the people and their fortunes. Today, it’s not only a religious site but also a cultural landmark where you can admire classical Chinese architecture, red lanterns, and incense drifting slowly into the air 🕯️.
Around the temple, a small market and food stalls have sprung up, so it’s also a nice spot to enjoy local Hefei snacks 🍢 after exploring. Visiting here offers a glimpse of Hefei’s history that contrasts beautifully with the city’s modern skyline.
🚇 How to Get There
By Metro 🚇: Take Line 2 to Dingziqiao Station, then walk about 10 minutes.
By Taxi 🚖: From Hefei South Railway Station, it’s about 20 minutes (20–30 RMB / €2–4).
The temple is close to Huaihe Road Pedestrian Street, so it’s easy to combine both visits.
Hefei City God Temple is a quiet reminder of the city’s roots — a place where faith, history, and local life meet.
