Spend a day in Helsinki on your way to the rest of the Nordics

Start your day off by taking a tour of the harbour area, where you can go on a ferry/boat ride to tour the surrounding islets and enjoy the sea breeze. Make your way to Uspenski Cathedral to see a stunning example of Orthodox Christian mosaics and architecture - the closest you can get to the Russian Orthodox Church style without going to Russia. Slowly make your way to town, stopping at the food markets along the way, before you reach Senate Square and Helsinki cathedral. Enjoy the views of Helsinki and the square from the steps or head inside to admire a cathedral designed in a true Finnish style. As you walk around the city, check out the Helsinki City museum or beautiful street art and cafes. If you like, you can leave Helsinki by ferry which can take you to Copenhagen or Stockholm.
