One of my favorite corners of the Helsinki Natural History Museum is the African Animals exhibition — it’s like taking a mini safari without leaving the city 🌍✨. From the moment you step in, life-size models of lions, elephants, giraffes, and zebras transport you straight to the savanna. The attention to detail is incredible: the textures of fur, the posture of each animal, even the surrounding vegetation makes it feel alive.
I remember pausing in front of the lion display, imagining the roar echoing across the plains, while a young child nearby whispered in awe — it’s one of those moments that makes the museum feel magical. 🦓🐘
📍 Location: Pohjoinen Rautatiekatu 13, Helsinki – a short walk from Central Station.
💡 Tip: Don’t rush. Take time to read the signs and notice the smaller creatures too — from insects to birds — the African ecosystem is as intricate as it is majestic.
The exhibition reminds you how diverse and vibrant life on Earth is, and how even a city museum can make you feel the thrill of the wild 🇫🇮🦒.
