Dongzhou Island

We took a small ferry to Dongzhou Island and felt the pace of life slow the moment we stepped off. The path led us through quiet villages, bamboo groves, and riverbanks lined with fishing nets. Everything moved gently people chatting over tea, chickens roaming freely, and the river always just a few steps away.

We walked without a plan, stopping at a small temple where a monk smiled and offered us warm tea. By sunset, we were sitting by the water, watching boats drift past in silence. The island didn’t ask for attention it welcomed us softly, and we stayed longer than we meant to.
