As the new cherry blossom season approaches,
I can't help but think back to spring 2024 — one of my most unforgettable trips ever.
In Japan, sakura are everywhere,
but cherry blossom viewing isn't just about the flowers themselves!
Sakura over water, railway sakura, garden sakura, night sakura, mountain sakura...
Sakura truly come alive when paired with ancient buildings, railway tracks, or flowing streams —
and in Kansai, you can find them all.
Kansai is undoubtedly one of the best-value cherry blossom destinations!
【Himeji Castle (姬路城)】
When planning a trip to Japan, Himeji Castle often flies under the radar.
But during sakura season, it’s an absolute must-visit!
Here, cherry blossoms blend classical elegance with everyday life.
Built in 1346, Himeji Castle is a UNESCO World Heritage Site,
one of Japan’s most magnificent and best-preserved ancient castles,
earning it the nickname "National Treasure of Japan." 🇯🇵
During sakura season, a sea of pink blossoms surrounds the brilliant white castle.
From afar, the castle looks like it’s floating on clouds of cherry blossoms — truly dreamlike!
The vibe here is so local and heartwarming —
you'll find grandparents, office workers, and families picnicking under the cherry trees,
just like scenes straight out of a Japanese drama. 🎥🌸
Himeji is conveniently close to Osaka and Kyoto —
from Kyoto, it’s just 50 minutes by Shinkansen,
making it perfect for a day trip!
