Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park

#WesternJapan
The Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park is located at the uppermost part of the delta where the old Ota River (main river) branches off into the Motoyasu River. It is an urban park that was opened to commemorate the victims of the atomic bomb and to pray for lasting world peace.

This place was the central downtown area of Hiroshima City from the Edo period to the early Showa period, but it was destroyed in an instant by the first atomic bomb in human history, dropped on August 6, 1945. After the bombing, based on the "Hiroshima Peace Memorial City Construction Law" promulgated on August 6, 1949, construction of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and facilities began in 1950 to develop the area around the hypocenter as a place symbolizing lasting peace, and was completed in 1955.

Inside the park, you can find the Atomic Bomb Dome, the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, numerous monuments erected with wishes for peace, and a camphor tree that was exposed to the atomic bomb. #Breathtaking views
