Trekking to Poon Hill – Panoramic Views of Annapurna
• Starting Point – Nayapul (1,070 m)
Early in the morning from a quiet village, the weather was a bit hot, with some sun and a breeze. The first part of the trail was a dirt road along a stream, passing a swaying wooden suspension bridge. The sound of flowing water and ringing cowbells created a celestial atmosphere for the start of the trek.
• Ascending to Ghorepani (2,860 m)
The ascent became more challenging, climbing thousands of stone steps amidst dense green forests and mountain views. During a break in Ulleri village, we saw the sharp peak of Machapuchare peeking above the clouds.
• 5 a.m. on Poon Hill (3,210 m)
The temperature was cold and windy, so we had to pull on our hoodies. The sky was still dark, but as the first light reached the Annapurna South summit, the entire mountain range shone golden. The white snow contrasts with the blue sky like a painting.
• Unforgettable 360° panorama.
A single spin reveals Annapurna I, Machapuchare, and other peaks, lined up like giant fortresses. The sounds of the surrounding trekkers quiet down, leaving only the sound of the wind.
• Impressive.
This trek not only offers some of the most stunning views in Nepal, but also teaches us that every step, sweat, and breath is a priceless exchange for moments that will remain etched in our memories forever.
